Some people have found that you can create accounts on this site without being a CHASE member. The software we use for the site allows this, and it's free, but it brings almost no benefits. Only CHASE members enjoy the ability of adding to the site through comments and content. Site members are restricted to the same set of functionality as anonymous users: the ability to read the site. CHASE membership is available through the site.

It's also worth knowing that at the moment (May 2007) that the CHASE mailing list is separate from the CHASE website. That is - it is possible to be a CHASE member but not be on the CHASE mailing list. And it's possible to be on the mailing list without being a member. (The latter policy may change in the future). To get yourself on the mailing list, use the small form in the left-hand column. When you join CHASE you are not automatically added to the mailing list.
